serious attempt

I bought a little tin of Neocolor II’s a few months ago, back when I was still in school. I had been so busy that I didn’t really get a chance to properly try them out. Last week I grabbed these bananas and painted them using my new toy. I really like how they handle and I think it actually looks very similar to watercolor. I colored them with first and then went over it with a wet brush to blend the colors. I added the dots in by taking pigment directly from the crayon with a wet brush. I think that I will use these in the future when I want the look of watercolor but with less hassle. Hopefully next time I will paint something a little more interesting than this.

graphite lily

The wedding was very beautiful. I got to see a lot of people that I haven’t seen in years and Jeet got to meet a lot of people for the first time. The ceremony was outside and it was very scenic, although the heat was oppressive. I actually wish I had my sketchbook with me so I could have drawn stuff, but I don’t think my sister would have liked that idea. I drew this sketch a few days ago when Jeet gave me these stargazer lilies. They were so beautiful and I wish I had been able to draw more pictures of them than I did, but they did not last too long.

prelude

Even though my scanner is broken, I have still been drawing. I am going to borrow my father’s scanner in the meantime and do mass scan-a-thons once a week. I think that way I will actually spend more time on the drawing and less time on the computer (wasting time). This morning I took a walk and sat outside and drew these roses before everyone was awake. As the caption in the drawing reads, this is my sister Lisa’s wedding day. The house is full of people right now and I needed some peace and quiet. I think I am actually getting more stressed out about this wedding than the bride. Even so, I think this will be a good day.

potpourri objects

We have a little bowl of potpourri in the living room and I did this little vignette as a way to practice with textures. I did this sketch right before I went to work and I’m glad I took the time to do it, even though it was only a quick little thing.

Posting has been the last thing on my mind lately but I’m going to really try to make an effort for the rest of the summer. My drawing these days has been mundane and perfunctory. Besides being overworked, my sister’s wedding is coming up in just a few days and I have a lot to take care. Attempting difficult drawing tasks is really the last thing I want to be doing right now. My scanner broke some time ago, which upsets me because it is one more expense I have to think about. I want to buy a nice scanner though and I am researching different ones. Hopefully, I get something soon.
