I have often been made fun of for drawing pretty pictures of flowers. First of all, they make me happy, so I draw them. Secondly, I prefer to call them “botanical drawings.”

Stippling usually really impresses people because of the tedium involved, but it’s more relaxing for me than anything else. These drawings were done with 01, 03 and 05 micron pens on bristol board (they are each 2.75” x 1.75”). I put each drawing into a glass photo coaster as a Christmas present for my aunt. I haven’t given it to her yet, but I think she will love it.

    Let’s just say – had I been your aunt, I’d have officially designated you my favorite niece! I am speechless! And there is absolutely nothing wrong with drawings of flowers – I believe botanical illustrations are as hard to prepare as any other, so just keep drawing what makes you happy, and let your happiness manifest itself through these magnificent drawings. I wish you all the best – may you hold plenty of exhibitions of your works of art in future.

    Aunt Liz (my sister)was the lucky recipient of the botanical coasters. I was in absolute amazement and awe with them. Koukla, you really ARE so very talented!     I really like the stippled flowers! I haven’t done stipple since. . . (a long time ago). Really nice soft effect.

    I absolutely adore stipple and the pain of doing larger pieces pays off when you look at the final. These are gorgeous Carolyn, I am sure your aunt will love them!

    Makes me want to do more stipple. hehe
