This is the finished version of the sketch I posted last time. I was going to do it in pen and ink and watercolor or something colorful like that, but then I decided at the last minute to do plain graphite. The recipient was really happy with it so I feel good about that. Unfortunately, a lot of detail is lost in this picture. I had to take a photo of it because it was too big to fit into my scanner (11” x 14”).
It felt good to work on some artwork again even though this was for someone else and there was more pressure on me to do a good job. I can’t wait until I finish the semester so I can do some artwork just for myself. I will be done with finals next Tuesday so I hope to have a lot of cool stuff to post after that.

Oh Wow! I’ll bet they weren’t just happy with this—they had to be thrilled! It really is beautiful. I’m impressed that you did such a large and highly detailed piece with graphite.
You’re a genius with pencil and paper – this is such a beautiful piece that I am at a loss for words. Very realistic and detail-oriented. It looks so simple, but I am sure a lot of hard work and talent underlines the final outcome. Bravo, Carolyn, bravo
!!
Great work! Slick – and not just because it’s graphite. Gotta hand it to you.

Wow, this is a very impressive graphite work! Well done. You really depicted the texture of the skin very well with your shadowing. Goodluck with the finals!
Thanks Terri!
INCREDIBLY AWESOME!! Love the drawing—but the shading is gloriously perfect!
I second Lin’s comment – she penned down my thoughts on that one! We would love to see more from you.
I believe that had you colored this image, you would have lost the strong message of long-lasting love that this couple so obviously want to portray.
That’s a good way to put it Marie. I thought it would be better to keep it simple and striking instead of muddying it up with lots of colors.
