collections
This sketch is for Everyday Matters challenge #31: collections. My old art teacher advised me to keep “collections” of features to help me with my portraiture skills. For example, she told me to draw different kinds of eyes, noses, ears, or lips on a page to study different shapes and lighting. I have been intrigued with lips lately. The set of lips on the bottom of the page is my own. These are some other examples of lips I have drawn:

Very nice drawings. I love the shading you achieved with the pencil.
You did a wonderful job on these lips. They are distinctly female. I wonder how different the male’s lips are. Another page in your book?

I have to admit that full Pre-Raphaelite lips are more fun to draw than male lips. I will try it sometime soon though.
I really like the way you did these lips. Very nice!
Sensual and realistic. I’ve noticed on many classical male renderings their lips are often very full as well (raphael, michelangelo, rubens, ingres, etc.). I think it’s interesting too that very few people have lips such as these. Most are rather dull in comparison.
These are wonderful! What a terrific take on a ‘collection’. :o)
